UCLA stalwarts senior Julie Consani and junior Laurel Weaver were able to record three dual match sweeps that gave them the second Pac-12 Conference beach volleyball pair of the week award of the 2016 campaign.
Consani pf Newport Beach and Weaver from Winnetka, California played court number 4 and 5 respectively, were the only pair to go undefeated for nationally ranked UCLA, which posted a 2-1 record that included handing Pac-12 rival No. 7 Arizona its first loss of the season.
The started the week with an impressive 21-8, 21-14 victory over Nicolette Stork and Nicolette Pinkney on Court 5 as part of the Bruins’ 5-0 sweep of CSUN.
They then earned one of UCLA’s points in a narrow 3-2 loss to No. 4 Florida State by edging Hailey Luke and Nikki Esposito (26-24, 21-13) on Court 5, then secured a critical point in the 3-2 victory over Arizona by sweeping the No. 4 pair of Mia Mason and Sara Pantovic (22-20, 21-15)
