Arizona State University sweeps Oregon State
Arizona State (7) volleyball team had an easy time against Oregon State they beat them with a sweep to arrange a showdown against Stanford (8) on Friday. ASU Sun Devils sweeps OSU Beavers 25-18, 25-19, 25-20 at Wells Fargo Arena.
Macey Gardner help ASU with 16 kills on .343 hitting. She is 35 kills away from breaking the 20-year-old school career record. ASU also contain Oregon State top hitter Mary-Kate Marshall who had just 9 kills on .158 hitting as the Beavers fell to 2-10, 0-2.
ASU had a 12-5 advantage in blocking even though 6-4 Bre Bailey sat out the third set. Bianca Arellano again handled all the setting with freshman Kylie Pickrell still out with a right knee injury.
Oregon State returns home next week vs. Utah and Colorado.
No. 1 Women's Volleyball Penn State beat No. 21 Minnesota
Penn State women's volleyball Nittany Lions (1) (13-0, 2-0) outlasted Minnesota Golden Gophers (21) (9-3, 1-1) in five sets (25-22, 25-16, 19-25, 20-25, 15-12) Saturday evening at Rec Hall.
Senior Megan Courtney led Penn State with her 5th double-double of the season, with 22 kills 13 digs and 5 total blocks. Aiyana Whitney, and sophomores Ali Frantti and Haleigh Washington rounded out the group with 13 kills each. Freshman libero Keeton Holcomb had 18 digs, Bryanna Weiskircher logged 12 digs and career-high 54 assists.
Ohio State women’s volleyball win against Wisconsin
Ohio State Buckeyes defeated Wisconsin Badgers (25-17, 18-25, 25-20, 21-25, 15-11) on Sunday at St. John Arena. The Buckeyes took first, third and fifth while the Badgers were able to take the second and fourth.
Taylor Sandbothe led the Buckeyes with a game-leading 26.5 points on 20 kills, 8 blocks (three and one service ace.
