Miss Kentucky Volleyball: Merideth Jewell

Miss Kentucky Volleyball, Merideth Jewell, Mercy Academy High School

Merideth Jewell of Mercy Academy High School Louisville Kentucky has been given the title of Miss Kentucky Volleyball by the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association. She was instrumental in leading the Mercy High School volleyball team to a state championship.

Merideth Jewell gaved an amazing performance with 17 kills, 11 digs and 2 aces in the Mercy Academy Jaguars championship win against Notre Dame. She also ranked number one on the team when it comes to kills and aces, and was second in blocks and hitting percentage.

Mercy coach Todd Garvey said, "She was kind of the heart of the team, her energy was contagious. I think she was the only player I have ever coached who gave her all every single day since she was a freshman, whether it was a practice or a game. She never took a day off or did not go 100%. She is a great leader."

She is thinking of signing with Morehead State this week.

Three Mercy Academy High School players were named to the Class 3-A All-State first team, Merideth Jewell,  Lexie Hamrick, and Devon Rachel. Other Class 3-A first-team All-State picks from Louisville were Miranda Elpers, Kinsey Maloney and Molly Sauer of Assumption, and Julia Boswell of Sacred Heart.
