Kansas Jayhawks volleyball sweeps Samford in NCAA First Round 3-0
Jada Burse was magnificent in her postseason debut in first-round sweep over Samford.
Kansas Jayhawks (5th seed) was having a hard time to put the game away it was an issue before, in their last two regular-season games they won the first two sets but failed to put an opponent away and had to take five-set wins. This time Kansas volleyball coach Ray Bechard used one timeout to refocused his team and luckily freshman, outside hitter Jada Burse listened. The Jayhawks took the next three points and Jada Burse took the final kill to clinch the important second set on their way to a 25-19, 25-21, 25-17 victory over Samford in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament at Horejsi Center.
Kansas Jayhawks is now 27-2 they will be playing Creighton at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Horejsi. The Bluejays, 27-6, defeated Northern Iowa in five sets on Thursday to advance to the round of 32.
Jayhawks have beaten Creighton 3-2 in Omaha, Neb., on September 8. They have also defeated the Bluejays 3-1 in the second round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament at Allen Fieldhouse
